1. Salad Greens:
Leafy vegetables like spinach, Lettuce, Chicory, Fennel, Mallow, Dandelion etc are great source of food. Due to almost no carbs, they are perfect for diabetes.
These largely contains Vitamin A and C as well as Minerals. Vitamin A helps in proper functioning of vision and immune system of our body.
Some evidences suggest that diabetic person needs more Vitamin C than normal person. Vitamin C helps in formation of collagen, absorption of iron, proper functioning of the immune system, wound healing, and the maintenance of cartilage, bones, and teeth.
2. Bitter Melon:
Bitter melon is disliked by many but contains two very essential compounds called charatin and momordicin, that have blood sugar lowering properties.
Research show that Polypeptide-p or p-insulin is an insulin-like hypoglycemic protein found in bitter melon, shown to lower blood glucose levels in gerbils, langurs and humans.

3. Oily Fishes:
Oily fishes are also called fatty fishes. Mussels, Sord fish, Salmon, Herring, Trout, anchovies and Tuna are great sources of omega-3, EPA & DHA, which are very beneficial for heart and its functioning.
Getting these on regular basis is a must for diabetic person who are more prone to heart diseases and stroke.
Research show that people consuming oily fishes have low risk of acute coronary syndromes, like myocardial infarction (heart attack), and are less likely to die from it. A study was conducted and concluded that person who were eating oily fish showed improvement in after-meal sugar level than normal person.
4. Amla (Gooseberries):
Gooseberries (Phyllanthus emblica) has been used to cure many human diseases. In many researches done on gooseberries have shown that it is antidiabetic, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antifungal, antiallergic, antiviral, and anticancer properties.
The soluble fibers of amla dissolves quickly and helps in slowing the rate of absorption of sugar in body. This can help reduce blood sugar spikes. Amla have shown a positive effect on blood glucose and lipid counts in people having type 2 diabetes.
It can improve glucose tolerance, absorption of glucose in cell and cell repair and with this many benefits, it’s a no brainer to use it in our daily life.
5. Aloe vera:
Aloe vera contains 75 potentially active ingredients like vitamin, enzymes, lignin, salicylic acid, amino acids. It contains Vitamin A (beta-carotene), C and E, B12, folic acid and choline.
It has shown some evidence in improvising control of prediabetic and diabetic conditions Aloe vera has long been used in folk or traditional medicine for diabetes.

6. Java Plum/ Black Plum:
Black plum has been known as miracle fruit in controlling type 2 diabetes.

It also helps in glucose absorption and thus reducing blood sugar level.
7. Fenugreek:
Fenugreek can be used to control diabetes, improve glucose tolerance, lower blood sugar levels. It helps stimulates the secretion of glucose-dependent insulin. It has shown good result in controlling both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The seeds contain some fibers and chemicals that may slow digestion and the body’s absorption of carbohydrates.
Soak two tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in water overnight and drink that water along with the seeds in the morning on an empty stomach to see result.
